Brasfield and Gorrie Project Competition
This collaborative three week project was completed in the Fall of 2022. Architecture students collaborated with interior design and building construction science to renovate a Visual Arts Center and turn it into a building for the Masters of Historic Preservation. In honor of historic preservation, we kept the same south facade and all exterior walls. We also used the historic railroad system as our concept and inspiration for a modern industrial look and feel to the building. Since this building is located on Mississippi State University's campus, we were required to create symmetrical north and south facades as well as showing symmetry floor plans. To minimize issues during construction, we made sure all plumbing walls were stacked and shared as well as ensuring that the elevator was apart of the addition. In the addition which was added to the north facade, we created partition walls that allowed for flexible classroom spaces.
